The world can get 80% of renewable energy sources in 2050

Geneva: KUNA

World Wide Union for Conservation of Nature on the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in its special report on renewable energy sources and mitigate the negative consequences of climate change.

A statement issued by the Union that the world was happening until 2008 at 13 percent of energy through renewable energy sources while confirming the report of the Intergovernmental Panel that the world can happen in the year 2050 to about 80 percent of its energy needs, including high demand it is expected in developing countries. He added that the world can work more renewable energy and that the human does not need to delay the transition towards more sustainable energy sources.

She described the Director General of the Federation Julia Marton-Lefevre, this report as "great news for the planet and its inhabitants as well as the climate" Prompt Governments to study the report's findings and put them quickly in the form of policies that pave the way towards the (green economy).

Lefevre said that the world does not need to wait for new inventions, as can the global shift toward clean energy that is achieved with the application of existing technologies such as sustainable bio-energy, wind, solar and hydropower.

The report shows that "the main barriers that stand behind the application of renewable energies are the social and economic, not technical, as proven in some cases that renewable energy is already economically competitive with fossil fuel sources."

For his part, Director of the EU economy and the environment Juan Marco Alvarez, "The environmental community should work with the renewable energy industry in the effective administration of environmental and social impacts of energy options to help understand and improve management and avoid the negatives."
