Station tent Solar Solar verify 24 hours of electricity supply

on 6:22 PM
Station announced Khimasolar concentrated solar power in Spain and a subsidiary of Torresol Energy joint venture between the source and Sener yesterday that it successfully completed its first day of the network supply power without interruption. The source of Abu Dhabi initiative integrated and multi-faceted development and deployment of solutions and marketing of renewable energy and clean technology, has entered into a partnership with Spanish company Sener engineering and construction of the founding of Torresol Energy and techniques relevant to the development of solar power plants.

The station relies Khimasolar to store heat in the central tower through the use of technology heat transfer depending on the molten salt, which has the property of heat storage for a long time, where it contributes to ensure the continued supply of energy through a system capable of generating electricity, even in the absence of the sun for 15 hours.

Shows the Diego Ramirez production manager in Torresol Energy, how it was to reach the stage of continuous production of electricity around the clock and record time less than a month from the start of commercial operation of the station, where he says: I arrived power generation systems in the station to perform the best during the last week of June; The synchronization of the high performance of the equipment with the availability of an excellent level of solar radiation over several consecutive days, what form a key factor in improving the performance of molten salt storage tank to reach the maximum production capacity. In light of this, we hope that the rate of energy supply network during the next few days to 20 hours a day.

Extended hours of production

The system allows storage of energy in the salt of the station to extend the hours to the production of electricity after sunset even if the weather was cloudy, so the station could be due to the steam turbines of up production capacity to 19.9 megawatts to provide 25 thousand homes with electricity. The station is able to provide electricity 24 hours a day, without interruption on most days of summer, with an annual capacity higher than that of most of the stations with the basic loads such as nuclear power plants.

Said Frank Waters, director of the unit power source: The proof of the effectiveness of this technology and the commercial viability of our methodology in the financing and operation is a very important achievement for the solar industry, and we are proud of this achievement, which will be of great help to us in our efforts to expand our portfolio of facilities and installations of solar energy.

The company Sener already applied the technology-based solar thermal energy storage in many of the stations in all parts of Spain. And has been operated, some commercially. This contributes to the system to improve performance significantly compared with the stations that do not rely on stored energy, as it allows management of electricity supply network and to respond to rising demand. In this way solar energy to ensure reliable performance and performance similar to conventional power plants based on fossil fuels, this factor is important in light of the increasing demand for renewable energy.
