It is supposed to leave about 800 U.S. troops home by the end of the month and ten thousands more by the end of the year, according to U.S. officials.
Has suspended the pace of deployment criticism in Washington, where Democrats want to withdraw larger numbers in what is considered hawkish Republicans, it too quickly at a time when Pentagon officials feel resentful because of taking their recommendations.

But the American public weary of the war has continued for nearly a decade in Afghanistan and the exorbitant cost of the conflict has become a subject of controversy in Western capitals, which are still battling the effects of deflation.

And Defence Minister George Leon Panetta said last week that its focus will be on hand over security to Afghan forces by the end of 2014. But major doubts hovering over the ability of the Afghan army and police to take responsibility for addressing the Taliban insurgency. Panetta acknowledged that «there is still a lot of work in order to be able to transfer responsibilities to them».

On the other hand, said the NATO force in Afghanistan (ISAF) to open an investigation yesterday killed six civilians were killed during a military operation in the southeast. ISAF confirmed Thursday it had killed six people in that region, but said they were from the insurgents.

And raised the 20 women or so of the placards read «the street, me too» and «will not tolerate insults anymore» and some men with them in solidarity with their cause. Afghanistan remains a very conservative with a social and cultural restrictions on the freedoms of women, although achieved dramatic improvements to their legal rights since the Taliban were ousted from power by about ten years.
